The Michelin Guide's review
Built by Montariol, this building is a beautiful example of functional architecture of the 1930's, with a typical decoration of forged iron and bas-relief. It has a majestic facade made of brick and stone and a reading room illuminated by a big dome which welcomes readers who are drawn by its contents. The latter is made up of the Clergy's and the Collège Royal libraries and is further enriched with the contents of some ten convent libraries seized during the Revolution.
