The Michelin Guide's review
The most beautiful private town house in Toulouse was built from 1555-1557 for public magistrate Assézat, who grew rich thanks to the woad trade. It was designed by Nicolas Bachelier, the greatest Renaissance architect in Toulouse. This never-fully-completed building boasts façades with three floors, each characterised by a different classical style (Doric, Ionic and Corinthian). This splendid Renaissance edifice is now home to the famous Académie des Jeux Floraux and the Bemberg Foundation, with its exceptional collection of art.
