Art Gallery of Ontario : The Grange
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This mansion, restored in 1973, once played a significant role in the sociopolitical life of Upper Canada. Initially the residence of the Boulton family, Loyalists from New England who became leaders in the Family Compact oligarchy, the restoration work has focused on this period. Although few pieces are original to the home, much of the furniture is from the Georgian and Regency periods. Of special interest is the beautiful, curved staircase in the entrance hall. The basement contains kitchens typical of a 19C gentleman's house.
