Calixtlahuaca
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The archaeological site of Calixtlahuaca stretches over a hill that is gradually becoming part of the suburbs of Toluca. This Toltec ceremonial centre, occupied by the Matlazincas starting in the 13C, exudes a strange feeling of peace, especially from the summit overlooking a part of the Toluca Plain that is nearly untouched. A cross-shaped altar on the main square, across from the pyramid, is dotted with cylindrical stones and sculpted skulls.
