The Michelin Guide's review
Abd el-Moumen had this sanctuary built in 1153 to honour Ibn Toumert, who is buried in Tinmel. Neglected after the fall of the Almohads, Tinmel Mosque went to rack and ruin, but extensive restoration work has been undertaken to restore it to its former glory. Between an admirable mihrab, the stalactite -considered the most perfect of their kind in Morocco -, the classical purity of the arcades and the elegant restraint of its stuccowork... it is a feast for the eyes.
