The Ethnological Museum is housed in an Art Nouveau-style mansion that has been home to the Ethnology and Folk Museum of Macedonia and Thrace since 1970. One part focuses on the pre-Industrial technologies of traditional societies, which were based on hydraulic energy until the 20C. Another part looks at traditional dress, especially the costumes worn on feast days. One room is dedicated to the lives of the Sarakatsan nomadic mountain shepherds.
