The Michelin Guide's review
Situated at the foot of the Colli Euganei, this Benedictine abbey was founded in the late 11C, although only the bell tower dates from this period. The current building (15C-16C) comprises several communicating cloisters that link the structure's different areas: the enormous refectory, the chapter room, the church, two libraries and the loggia. It is in the latter that numerous works of art, including the lions of St Mark's, found refuge during the Second World War.
