The Michelin Guide's review
A city thrived here apart from the other populated centres beginning in the 3C AD, halfway between the Puuc region to the north and the Petén to the south. It declined with the other Mayan sites in the late 9C. Edzná is worth a visit for its elegant Edificio de los Cinco Pisos, a five-story pyramid studded with rooms and topped by a crestería. From the top you can gaze out over the Yucatan plateau. At the Templo de los Mascarones there are two stucco masks of the sun god Kinich Ahau shown at dawn and dusk.
