Museum of Iron
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The history of iron making and the heyday of the Coalbrookdale Company are relived in this museum. It is housed in a large warehouse with windows that have iron lintels. In 1851, the Coalbrookdale Company employed 4,000 men and children to produce 2,000 tonnes of iron a week. Turned into pillars, columns and other decorative elements, iron was used to build stations, bridges, chimneys and so on.
