Taos Pueblo
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this pueblo, called the Place of the Red Willow, features countless homes that are still inhabited today by the Pueblo Indians and thus in excellent condition. Take a step back in time and admire the multistory mud-and-straw adobe structures linked by ladders. Its residents live here all year-round without running water or electricity, although some villagers live outside the pueblo in modern homes in a neighboring reserve.
