Kroumirie Mountains
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The Kroumirie mountains are distinguishable by their significant differences in height. Abundant precipitation in this region of the country has created "another Tunisia" covered in moss, heather, holm oak, chestnut trees, maritime pines and above all cork oaks, where the beds of the often-dry rivers (wadis) are teeming with oleander. The climate here is invigorating, making it popular with older visitors who come here to rest and relax. It is also a popular destination for winter visitors keen to enjoy the snow that falls here. The mountains are also dotted with small villages - common sights include children carrying buckets of water and men riding mules pulling bundles of wood behind them.
