The Michelin Guide's review
The Overberg is an isolated area "over the (Hottentots Holland) mountains" east of the Cape at the southern tip of Africa. It features the very interesting De Hoop Nature & Marine Reserve, which protects terrestrial and marine fauna. The rocky Atlantic Coast is a great place for watching whales and also boasts some well-known vineyards. The town of Swellendam, Genadendal Mission and the village of Elim with its community of Moravian Brothers are other places to explore in getting to known the country's history.
