The Michelin Guide's review
The paintings that decorate the chancel of this church were commissioned especially for the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Stiklestad (1030). They illustrate the sequence of events on that historic day through a series of scenes, and are the work of Alf Rolfsen. During restoration work, frescoes dating from the 16C were discovered on the walls of the church. These depicted various Biblical scenes, including the Passion (on the north wall). The steatite baptismal fonts date from the 12C.
