  The Michelin Guide's review
The Abbazia di Staffarda was built by Cistercian monks in the 12C and 13C in the transition Romanesque-Gothic style. This imposing monastic complex was a major economic hub and the scene of fairs of markets. You can admire the handsome Gothic refectory of the hostelry and the market terrace and meditate in the peaceful cloisters. Notice the restrained austerity of the church, whose only decoration is the contrast between the red bricks and the white stone.
