The Michelin Guide's review
Saint Quentin was rebuilt in Art deco style in the 1920's, providing an experimental playground for architects at the time. The facades, some of which sport traditional Flemish gables, are adorned with oriels, overhanging balconies, geometric and floral motifs, mosaic and ironwork. Numerous examples are dotted around the centre, including the Conservatoire de Musique et de Théâtre (51 Rue d'Isle), the train station restaurant and, next-door, the bridge flanked by lantern-towers.
