St Peter's Church
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This granite structure was built by William the Conqueror in 1048. The semi-circular porch and nave are characteristic Norman features. The church served as a fortress, housing the Guernsey militia's cannon and fire brigade's pump. Inside there are interesting stained-glass windows (above the high altar and in the north transept). Note also the numerous commemorative plaques in French, and the Ten Commandments inscribed on the reredos.
