The Michelin Guide's review
Discovered in 1945, the Hérault grotto is renowned for its abundance of aragonite and calcite, delicate calcium carbonate crystalline formations. In addition to classic stalagmites and stalactites, the cave contains two aquariums filled with several cave-dwelling aquatic creatures. Clamouse grotto is, however, above all famous for its stunning white concretions. The White Corridor and the Chamber of Eccentrics are authentic treasures, adorned in delicate crystallisations of an amazing whiteness, very rare in the cave world.
