Penwith Peninsula

 Well worth the diversions

  The Michelin Guide's review
Penwith, the most westerly part of Cornwall, is a magnificent headland, its high granite cliffs jutting into the Atlantic and often pounded by the ocean waves. The tiny fishing villages, small churches and Celtic crosses seem to defy the elements. This is "Extreme Cornwall", in both the geographical and figurative sense, a land that has always seduced artists - and you can see why!
