Two tours are offered at this industrial site that is still in operation: a fascinating tour of Bois-Rouge Sugar Refinery, explaining the process of how sugar is made and the hive of activity that surrounds it (only during the sugar season from June to December); and an instructive tour at Savanna Distillery, where sugarcane is turned into different kinds of rum (year round, but avoid school holiday times). Tours are rounded off with a tasting session.
