The Michelin Guide's review
The vast People's Square is the heart of this Venetian-style city. It became the town's administrative centre with the construction of municipal palaces in the 14C and 15C. The people of Split tend to refer to it as the Pjaca (pronounced piatsa). It is lined by the former town hall, with a triple arcaded loggia and Gothic windows, the Late Romanesque Ciprianis Palace (1394), a clock tower with a 24-hour clock face and finally the Art nouveau-style Nakić Palace.
