The Michelin Guide's review
Many people still refer to the square as the Fruit Square, because a huge fruit and vegetable market took place here up until the 1960s. You will also see Ivan Mestrovic's statue of the poet Marko Marulic (1450-1524), who was born in Split. The square is dominated by a massive hexagonal Venetian tower, which was part of the castel, also from 1435. At N°4, Milesi Palace, notable for its elegant Baroque façade (18C), is now the venue of exhibitions.
