Winding for almost 24km through the magnificent Daisetsu-zan mountain range near the village of Sounkyo, the Soun gorge (kyo) is a spectacular sight; especially the Ryusei and Ginga waterfalls that hurtle down from the top of the rocky cliffs looming overhead at 90m and 120m respectively. For a view of both waterfalls, take the trail that starts at the rear of the car park and climbs through the forest to emerge after a 15min walk at a wonderful panoramic view.
