The Michelin Guide's review
This Baroque building once belonged to the aristocratic Esterházy family. It now houses a museum on Sopron's mining tradition, which dates back to the 18C. Working models, tools and machines help illustrate the old and new techniques used in underground mining. Two other museums in the region are also dedicated to mining: one in Brennerberg, which was home to one of the largest and deepest coal mines in Hungary until 1952, and one in Görbehalom.
