The Michelin Guide's review
The Santa Ines mission, founded in 1804, thrived thanks to its fine leather and silverware craft industries. However, harsh treatment by the monks resulted in a revolt by the converted Indians and Santa Ines was burnt to the ground in 1824. The mission is well worth a visit to view the sacred art in its church, much of which was created in Latin America in the 17C. The garden and cemetery, where 1 700 converts are buried, are particularly moving.
