The Michelin Guide's review
Bogenšperk Castle, one of the best preserved in Slovenia, is a Renaissance building, built from 1511, on the site of a medieval fortress. The two-storey building, organised around a square courtyard, has retained three of its four corner towers. From 1672 to 1692 it belonged to JV Valvasor, a famous scholar and author of the monumental Honour of the Duchy of Krajna, who had collected his library, his own printing press and an engraving workshop there.
