The Michelin Guide's review
These dramatic and austere mountains are a breathtaking sight. The Black Cuillins are a horseshoe-shaped range encircling the glacial trough of Loch Coruisk. Twenty jagged peaks stand over 900m high, with the highest, Sgurr Alasdair, reaching 933m. Only experienced climbers should attempt to scale them, but the broad valleys are ideal for walking, weather permitting. The Red Cuillins are pink granite mountains forming more rounded slopes. Glen Sligachen valley commands breathtaking views over these ranges.
