The Michelin Guide's review
The islet of Visovac is home to a monastery founded in the 14C for Franciscan monks from Bosnia fleeing the Turks. The church dates from the 16C, but the monastic buildings are early 20C. Visitors can admire a fine collection of manuscripts and old books, including an illustrated version of the Fables of Aesop (1487), documents from the Turkish occupation and 16C and 17C Italian paintings.
