Sitka National Historical Park covers 43ha. The Visitor Center, at the mouth of the Indian River, presents the culture clash created by the arrival of Europeans in the New World. Fort Site recalls the 1804 Battle of Sitka. A 1mi loop trail through a spruce forest passes the clearing where a Tlingit fort once stood. There is also one of the finest collections of totems in the US.
