Russian Bishop's House
Michelin Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This is one of the few surviving examples of Russian colonial architecture in North America. An orphanage and a school for natives have also operated here. Impeccably restored to its former glory, the house retains more than 70 percent of its original structure. A tour gives you a feeling for the serious intentions of Russians to serve their God and Czar, even though, as they often lamented, "God is in His heaven, and the Czar is far away." The few exhibits on the first floor are well selected and displayed, with just enough text to keep you interested but not overwhelmed.
