The market garden plain of Lonjsko Polje is dotted with picturesque authentic villages. Gusce is a fine example, with its pretty wooden houses swamped in vines and wisteria. Other sites include Cigoc, the "capital" of the Lonjsko Polje nature reserve and a popular nesting-place for storks (each of its flower-decked houses has one), and the town of Krapje. The latter is considered to be a conservatory of wooden architecture.
