The Michelin Guide's review
The golden onion-shaped domes of this church can be seen from afar. Built in 1902, below the pass where the Battle of Sipka took place (1877, between the Russians and the Turks), it commemorates the Russian soldiers killed during this decisive encounter. The building has three large domes, a green and red tower and two side pinnacles. The interior is beautiful, its walls entirely covered with frescoes and its gilded iconostasis. The atmosphere is enhanced by Orthodox chants contiuously playing.
