The Michelin Guide's review
Preceded by barbicans, the main gate into the city (and also its symbol) is a massive 13C-14C defensive tower, topped by a gallery elegantly supporting a roof of shining tiles, from which rises a spire flanked by four turrets. On the lower town side the tower displays the city coat of arms. On entering the citdel by passing beneath the tower, visitors are presented with the clock, fitted with carved automata which indicate the day of the week.
