This magnificent Buddhist monastery, erected by Jayavarman VII (12C-13C) to honour his mother, is eminently romantic. The temple benefited from careful restoration, intended to strengthen the edifice without changing its original appearance, in this case, a temple reclaimed by the surrounding jungle. Kapok tree branches arching over the walls, the aerial roots of strangler fig trees snaking their way in between blocks of sandstone or through vaulted galleries...
