The Michelin Guide's review
This abbey surrounded by ancient buildings was rebuilt in the 15C but originally dates from Saxon days. The crossing tower (15C) is built on massive Saxon-Norman walls and pillars, and contains two openings and twelve pinnacles. The wo rows of Perpendicular-style windows on the south façade are unusually cut mid-way by the eight openings of the transept. Inside, the pillars of the chancel support the most ancient fan vaulting in the country.
