  The Michelin Guide's review
Located in the southern part of the Pennines, the park covers 1 400km². Moorland, forests and prairies alternate from north to south, offering superb hiking possibilities. This popular destination geared toward sport and nature lovers also has a fascinating and chequered history. Visitors can go from a spruce spa town to a listed former industrial site, or from a gorgeous stone hamlet in the bottom of a little valley to the most flamboyant castles.
