The Michelin Guide's review
The Acropolis stands on a plateau and is surrounded by walls. It is on the classical chequerboard plan of a city divided into main streets crossed at right angles. Here were the houses of the privileged classes as well as public and Religious buildings. There are the remains of two temples (temple C, undoubtedly the oldest in the town, has an Isosceles shaped facade). The wall of the city that can still be seen today is the one that was built after the destruction of 409.
