The Michelin Guide's review
Recognisable by its red-brick minaret, this attractive mosque was built in 1375 to overshadow the Basilica of St John. Access is via a magnificent muqarna-adorned door, of Seljuk inspiration. The prayer hall is a vast rectangle divided in two by four imposing columns. Several attractive fragments of enamelled ceramic tile are visible here and there on the walls.
