The Michelin Guide's review
This attractive stone house with a Georgian porch was built by Charles Oakes Ermatinger, a prosperous fur trader, for his Ojibway wife, Charlotte. The Ermatinger/Clergue property, restored in keeping with the period, welcomed many famous guests, among whom the artist Paul Kane. Upstairs, an interesting museum tells the story of the Ermatinger family and the town of Sault Ste Marie.
