The Michelin Guide's review
The site of the final stand of the Métis in 1885, the Batoche National Historic Site is a poignant tribute to the Métis. Among the rare remains of the village, restored and decorated with artefacts related to the tragedy, is the church dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua, the rectory with its bullet holes and a cemetery of Métis graves, including that of Gabriel Dumont. The visitor centre offers a moving audiovisual presentation on the rebellion and displays related to Métis history and culture.
