  The Michelin Guide's review
The history of this pentagonal 16C castle is rather out of the ordinary. Erzsébet Báthori, known as the vampire princess, wife of Ferenc II Nádasdy, Prince of Sárvár, spent several years here. The tale of this diabolic woman is said to have inspired the author of Dracula. Today the castle houses a museum dedicated to the life of the hussars. During your visit, don't miss the wonderful knights' room, decorated with frescoes depicting battle scenes against the Turks dating from the 17C and 18C.
