The Michelin Guide's review
An open-air museum on the site of the former walls of the Temple of Ptah. Note the impressive alabaster sphinx monolith, discovered in the 19C, and the limestone Colossus of Rameses II, lying on its back, around which a tailor-made building was constructed! Unlike many of the other monumental statues unearthed at this site, it did not make it to the British Museum as shipment would have been almost impossible.
