The Michelin Guide's review
The funerary complex of Unas encompasses the pyramid and temple in the valley, joined by a 750m-long causeway whose walls were decorated with reliefs. Inside the Pyramid of Unas (late V Dynasty), built 350 years after the Djeser complex and mostly in ruins today, you can see hieroglyphs recognised as the first funerary texts (the "Pyramid Texts"). As well as having a decorative function, they recount the stages of the funeral ceremony that accompanies the deceased to eternal life.
