The Michelin Guide's review
Saleccia Beach, a paradisiacal term for the customs officers' trail started in Saint-Florent, extends for more than a kilometre along a pine forest of Aleppo pines. The setting is magnificent, with white sand and transparent waters glinting turquoise. The site was not only used as a location for the shooting of the landing in the film The Longest Day, but was also the very real stage, on 1 and 2 July 1943, of the submarine Casabianca landing munitions for the Corsican Resistance.
