The Michelin Guide's review
Santa Monica Pier is the town's most symbolic landmark. Indeed, this pier is the official end point of the historic Route 66, which connects Chicago and Los Angeles. Built in 1912, nowadays it has a theme park, including a merry-go-round from 1922. From the end of the pier, the view takes in the coast and the hills of Los Angeles. To the south, acrobats practise on Santa Monica Beach; to the north, the verdant paths of Palisades Park attract walkers.
