The Michelin Guide's review
The mission was founded at the same time as the town in 1610, but partly destroyed during the Pueblo Revolt. It served as a church for the Mexicans and converts of the district. The current building, apart from the walls, was rebuilt and fortified in 1710. Look out for the altarpiece depicting San Miguel (1798) and the paintings on buffalo and stag hides (1630) used by the monks to teach the Native American peoples.
