The Michelin Guide's review
The west façade of Codz Pop Palace ("rolled mat" according to a motif inside, thought to designate the royal throne) is the most eye-catching part of this Puuc site, connected to Uxmal by an 18km sacbe (paved way). The Puuc art seems to have gone wild here in an explosion of Chaac masks (250), all identical, their curled protruding noses mostly broken. Each mask is composed of thirty different pieces of stone. On the east façade, statues of a king, the "lord of Kabah", stand out against a backdrop of feathers.
