Wildlife abounds in the canals, bogs, inlets, mangrove swamps and forests of this nature reserve. Begin at the visitor's center, where displays and videos provide an insight into the natural history of the 5,400-acre refuge. For a glimpse of alligators and water birds, including roseate spoonbills, egrets and great blue herons, take the dirt-track Wildlife Drive and meander along the 2.5mi of waymarked trails. Canoes and bicycles are also available for rent.
