Built in 1545, the monastery was redesigned to house a Byzantine-Norman museum. Among the interesting Byzantine frescoes from the 11C is a very well-preserved one showing, in one corner, a Madonna with delicate hands and in the lower band, on a deep blue background, the four doctors of the Orthodox church: St John Chrysostom, St Gregory of Nazianzus, St Basil the Great and St Athanasius.
