The Michelin Guide's review
During the classical era, Teotihuacán asserted itself on all levels as the most important city in Meso-America. Nowadays it is the largest archaeological site on the high Mexican plateau, as remarkable for the size and precision of its urban planning as for its historic value. Frozen in a semi-desert landscape, the austere and outsized vestiges of the city struck the imagination of the Aztecs, who made it the cradle of a large part of Mexican mythology.
