The Michelin Guide's review
The meticulously landscaped 6.5 acres, built in the early 1960s, are modeled after Korakuen Garden in Okayama, Japan, San Jose's sister city. Paths wind past stone lanterns, a small pagoda and a variety of flora, including flowering cherry trees and carefully placed conifers. On the upper level, a large pool-populated by brightly colored koi, turtles, ducks and blue herons-is spanned by a lovely Moon Bridge. A waterfall pours over ornamental rocks into a lower pool, site of a teahouse. The shapes of the two ponds resemble the Japanese characters for kokoro, a word designating heart and soul.
